2017, Greece has lost its horizon line.
The crisis is taking the people hostage, reducing their lives to the narrowest perspectives as they are loosing means to identify and take part in the society.
A crisis is the moment when one is forced to exit the comfort of his beliefs and automatisms. It’s when one has to escape the voluntary servitude in which we all seem to have fallen. Not only on political, economical nor societal aspects. Meaning here, the voluntary servitude of a life driven by fear, afraid of taking the risk to change what is dysfunctioning.

One Over Many is the story of a collaborative project to fight this systemic failure. SOFFA (Social Fashion Factory) is a social cooperative of designers and professionals founded by a singular woman, Fiori Zafeiropoulou. Her aim is to create a sustainable value chain and establish a more holistic model for the fashion industry. SOFFA accomplishes this by engaging all stakeholders, from producers to consumers, providing services such as work integration for human trafficking survivors and refugees, as well as social entrepreneurship training for unemployed designers. In short, they are recalibrating the whole process, making the industry work for the community.

One Over Many is the second part of a trilogy about Greek entrepreneurship that I've been developing since 2015. This chapter focusses on social entrepreneurship initiatives, which are a growing reaction to the economic crisis.

Through interviews with members of the SOFFA team, as well as other actors in the Greek textile industry, I present a startling reflection on the power of the individual to change a seemingly impossible situation. Taking creativity as the starting point, my conversations with them reveal how the potential in all of us can create global change.
